OYOGist.com has learned that the Redeemed Christain Church of God has reportedly set a new record this month after commencing a virtual annual convention earlier this week. The virtual annual convention which is the first of its kind, had started on Monday, August 3rd and will be running through Sunday, August 9th.
The RCCG Annual Convention is a yearly programme to celebrate the church anniversary since it’s establishment in 1952. The convention has always been organized every August as celebration of the church’s anniversary since 1952. This has become a culture in the church’s mission.
Since the inception of the convention in 1952, it has always been a physical gathering where congregations meets face to face at the church Redemption Camp but this year’s convention has been unique and taking a different turn as Pastor Adeboye reschedules it to a virtual convention. This makes it the first time in 68 years since the establishment of RCCG, that the church will be holding a virtual annual convention.
The 2020 Annual Convention is the 68th edition of the yearly programme. The General Overseer, Pastor E.A Adeboye has decided to make it a virtual meeting following the restrictions placed on worship centres. This is as a result of the breakout of Global pandemic early this year.
However, the virtual convention has not changed anything about the programme as plans were already put in place. The programme has been holding daily with different wonderful sessions and bountiful Testimonies. This is indeed special and a new record in the church’s report.
