The hashtag #JusticeforIZU is currently trending on Twitter after a promising young man took his own life following a false list of men accused of rape that was created by an influencer that included his name.
As the battle against rape and sexual exploitation women is beginning to gain ground in Nigeria, we’re witnessing in shock, as the gains being made on this front get eroded after a young man committed suicide after he was falsely accused of rape.
OYOGist.com has gathered that a Twitter influencer named Nanichi Anese who goes by the handle @Nanichianese created a list of rapists and included a young man named Legend Izu Madubueze in the “list.”
Shocked by the inclusion, Izu reached out to Nanichi to let him know who has accused him so that he can mend things, clarifying that he has never harassed anyone before.
However, Nanichi refused to reveal who accused Izu of sexual harassment, but instead said it was a “nonphysical harassment”.
Conversations between Izu and Nanichi found on Izu’s phone revealed that he was trying to know who his accuser was so that he could learn how his conduct had made them feel uncomfortable.
Izu later posted an apology note on Twitter, followed by a suicide note.
After the news that Izu had committed suicide became public, Nanichi deactivated her page to avoid scrutiny.
Below are more photos of Nanichi whose false accusations led to the suicide committed by Izu.
