According to report reaching OYOGist.com, the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN has revealed new information about the 774,000 jobs available to youths in Local Governments across the Country. In what seems is a public warning and notice, Keyamo revealed that some States’ selection committees were planning to sideline Non-Indigenes, considering only Indigenes for the jobs.
Keyamo further revealed the Qualification for the 774,000 Jobs. Keyamo stated that “anyone who is a resident in any Local Government Area in the country, irrespective of tribe, is qualified.” He asked the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Coordinators to take note.
The Special Public Works Programme is an employment initiative which is designed to employ 1,000 persons in each local government area across Nigeria. It is scheduled to start on the 1st of October, with each beneficiary to be paid 20,000 Naira monthly.
Three weeks ago, Keyamo had a public clash with a committee over the processes on the Programme. Keyamo alleged that the committee planned to hijack the process in order to secure slots for themselves. The National Assembly went further to suspend the Programme, however the Programme is set to continue with the State Selection Committees already selected.
