In what appears to be a massive scale cryptocurrency scam, the Twitter accounts of eminent American individuals and businesses including Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Apple, and others have been hacked, OYOGist.com reports.
The hacker is tweeting through the now-compromised handles that their followers make donations via Bitcoin; and these public figures include Kanye West, Jeff Bezos, Mike Bloomberg and Warren Buffett.
Tweets shared on the accounts include calls for users to urgently make donations to certain accounts through Bitcoin on websites.

Elon Musk tweeted “I’m feeling generous because of COVID-19. I’ll double any BTC payment sent to my BTC address for the next hour. Good luck, and stay safe out there!”
The tweet included a wallet address the hacker is using to havest unsuspecting followers Bitcoins.
Binance, a major blockchain and cryptocurrency service provider was also hacked. See their tweet below:
Apple on its part, after being hacked, was made to promise followers who send their bitcoins to a shoddy wallet address would get it back doubled.
“Everyone is asking me to give back, and now is the time. I am doubling all payments sent to my BTC address for the next 30 minutes. You send $1,000, I send you back $2,000,” Bill Gates verified account tweeted.
Twitter, in response and in an effort to curtain the spread of the hack, has disabled the means for verified Twitter accounts to send new tweets.
