INTERPOL confirms arrest of Hushpuppi and Woodberry on fraud crimes

The International Police (INTERPOL) has confirmed the arrest of Hushpuppi on alleged fraud charges in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 10th of June, 2020, OYOGist.com has gathered.

The confirmation was made to The Nation by the Commissioner of Police (CP) INTERPOL in Nigeria, Garba Umar, who also revealed that the commission is already making plans to extradite them to Nigeria to face charges for crimes that were committed here.

“It is true that Hushpuppi was arrested by the INTERPOL. We are currently working on bringing him to Nigeria to face charges of fraud. Some of the offenses were committed here in Nigeria and he has to answer for them. He is not alone in it; there are accomplices in the country who we are currently on their trail” he said

OYOGist.com recalls that three days ago, Hushpuppi and his associate Woodberry were arrested in the UAE by the Interpol and FBI for allegedly defrauding the US Government of $35 million dollars meant for the purchase of COVID-19 ventilators and unemployment relief package for Americans.

Hushpuppi is known for his flamboyant lifestyle and has become and Instagram celebrity by amassing millions of followers by showing off his flamboyant lifestyle on social media.

In 2019, another flamboyant Instagram big boy, Nigerian man, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha was also arrested on charges of wire fraud and money laundering. Mompha was later released after posting bail but his case is still ongoing.

The EFCC arrested Mompha on his way to Nigeria from Dubai, and it was later revealed that the FBI and Interpol had been on Mompha’s trail for a while.
