Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to signing Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez, according to reports. The 28-year-old, who has struggled for chances at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, the player is valued at £22.5million, but Spurs could pay as little as £16m – with Vazquez’s current contract expiring at the end of next season.
Vazquez was playing for Real Madrid Castilla – Madrid’s reserve team – while Jose Mourinho was in charge of the La Liga giants between 2010 and 2013 and the Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is eager to link with the Spaniard once again, having watched him develop as a youngster.
Having made just 18 appearances for Madrid this season – scoring just three times – Vazquez is clearly looking for more regular first-team football – something Tottenham Hotspur would be able to offer, as long as were to offload one of Erik Lamela or Lucas Moura.
