A pastor of the Christ Holy Church Asaba, Delta State has landed in trouble as police operatives of the Delta State Police Command have recovered six pump action rifles from an uncompleted building in his church premises.

Pastor Fidelix Nwansa is cooling his heels in the station and is accused of gunrunning on the pretext of providing security for churches and hotels in the area alongside vigilante groups.

A vigilante leader nabbed along with the pastor is from Anambra State, the same as the cleric and was brought to Delta State for a security job by him.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, in a chat with newsmen on Thursday said the pastor was arrested two days earlier by his men during a mop-up operation.

He warned those importing criminals into the state in the guise of vigilantes to desist as doing so is illegal and noted that they are often armed with sophisticated weapons.
