The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has officially announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressive Party following his disqualification from the party primaries by Oshiomole led APC.
OYOGist.com has gathered that the Edo State Governor on Tuesday, 16th of June, 2020, officially announced his resignation from the membership of the ruling All Progressive Party to contest for re-election as Governor under a different platform.
The Governor said he would reveal his next moves “in the coming days” as he spoke to newsmen.
Obaseki had a fallout with the APC leadership over his sour relationship with the party chairman, Oshiomole, leading to his disqualification to participate in the upcoming Edo State Governorship election.
“In my last tweet, I said that I will make a decision after my disqualification was announced by APC… that I will make a decision after I have consulted with the leadership and my supporters in Edo State and also having informed the President, I’m just here today to inform you that I have now decided, formally, to resign my membership from the All Progresive Government,” Obaseki told reporters on Tuesday.

On Monday, PDP Governor of Rivers State, Governor Wike mocked the APC leadership and Oshiomole for disqualifying Godwin Obaseki from the party over a “defective certificate”.
Wike, in the viral video, said while Obaseki, who Oshiomole once vouched for his integrity to the people of Edo State may have a defective certificate, which his school has even come out to defend, Oshiomole himself doesn’t even own one, according to Governor Wike.
