President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday, 2nd of June endorsed the President of African Development Bank (AfDB) amidst call by US Treasury to probe the affairs of the continent’s leading financial entity’s boss.

OYOGist.com recalls that Akinwumi Adesina paid a visit to Nigeria’s President at the Aso Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.

The President said he endorsed the AfDB President for the position in 2015, despite being a minister of the opposition PDP party.

Akinwumi Adesina is posed to have another 5-year run as the President of the African Development Bank after his first tenure runs out 2020.

The US Secretary of Department of Treasury had called for a fresh investigation into the conduct of Akinwumi Adesina after some employees raised complaints into the AfDB President’s conduct into employment and other related activities.

President Buhari retweeted a post from the Nigeria Presidency Twitter page endorsing Akinwumi Adesina.

Several African leaders have rallied round the AfDB leader to show their support for his candidacy to continue the leadership of the Bank.

AfDB is Africa’s biggest joint financial institution and has been strengthened by policies and fund-raising efforts of Akinwumi Adesina.

Leaders across the world have condemned the call by the United States to conduct a fresh investigation into Akinwumi Adesina an affront to Nigeria’s position in the bank and a witch-hunt aimed to undermine the growth and independence of Africa.
