The Niger Police Command on Saturday said it killed nine bandits terrorising the Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
It was learnt that the hoodlums were killed during a gun battle between them and a team of men of the Operation Puff Adder and local vigilantes.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, said the incident occurred in Karaya Mahanga and Bakachi villages around 2.30am on Saturday.
He said, “Nine bandits have been killed while the three that ran towards Mekujeri village were intercepted and lynched by an angry mob.”

Abiodun said 150 cows and 200 sheep were recovered from the bandits after the exchange of gunfire which lasted several hours.
Speaking with our correspondent on the phone, the Chairman of Rafi Local Government Area, Ismaila Modibo, confirmed the incident, urging the dwellers not to panic.
