OYOGist.com has learned that Super Eagles of Nigeria and Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun has said he would love to return back to Germany to play before he hang up his boot in football.

The 31 years old Germany born star has been on the news as he is moving closer to the end of his contract at the English Premier league side that he has been unable to cement his spot at the first Eleven.

Balogun was sent out on loan to the English championship side Wigan Athletic on a six month loan deal in January and he has already established himself as the starter in the team and he has helped the team kept many clean sheets before the league was suspended indefinitely due to the emergence of Covid-19 pandemic.

The former Werder Bremen defender started his career in Germany before he left for the English Premier league in the summer transfer window of 2018 on a free transfer from Mainz.

In a chat with Kicker according to fussballtransfers, Balogun said: “Germany is my home, I would always think about it, I’m still fit. Even if I turn 32 in the summer, I still have a few years in my legs. I would also like to continue the experience of England, but the bottom line is that it is nowhere like at home.”

During his stay in Germany, Balogun played for Mainz, Hertha Berlin, Hannover 96, Darmstadt 98 etc before moving to the English Premier league.

Balogun has been enduring a terrible spell on the bench for Brighton and Hove Albion since joining from Mainz in 2018 after failing to get enough playing time but he has turned his season around since joining Wigan Athletic but there is no hope of joining the Latics on a permanent basis after the end of his loan deal.
