OYOGist.com has learned that Dr Chikwe Ikehweazu the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has said that Nigeria and the rest of the world may have to wait till at least next year before normalcy return. Ikehweazu made the statement while speaking at annual event organized by Poju Oyemade Covenant Nation on Saturday . He said the pandemic is a difficult reality that will take some time to go away.
Speaking the bitter truth, the DG said ” Every country is right now looking at the same challenge and how to get us back to some level of normalcy, but the reality is that we are going to live with the pandemic for the Next Year at the very least”.

Nigeria has to start thinking about how to live safely with the disease, adding that it was obvious that some of changes being introduced. ” The emphasis on Handwashing Sanitiser ,Respiratory Hygiene. He urged Nigeria’s to continue to bear with the Government as ban on mass gathering remain unlifted.
“It is a sacrifice we should have make as a People, as a country to get over this. It will be a challenging time, but this is a sacrifice we could have to pay; we are not alone in this, even the countries we look up to are facing the same challenges.
He further said Nigerians must bear this short term ban in order to gain the long term opportunity to return to normal social life we all know.
