Fuji Maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde, better known as K1 de Ultimate, has been warned sternly by the Alaafin of Oyo, HRM, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III against paying homage to any other Oba apart from himself.
He issued the warning to the Fuji star ahead of his crowning as the first-ever Mayegun of Yoruba land. The installation ceremony is scheduled to hold at the expansive palace of the Alaafin in Oyo, Oyo State.
In a video currently circulating online, the Alaafin said that the chieftaincy title he was about to bestow on K1 makes him equal to every other Oba.
“The Alaafin is precious among Kings. This chieftaincy title we are about to bestow on you makes you on par with other Kings. This means you must never prostrate for any other Oba. It is the King that crowns other Kings that is installing you as a chief.
No chief installed by the Alaafin can go and kneel before another king and say he wants to take a title there. And there is not a King in the entire Yoruba land, that can bestow this ‘Mayegun’ title. They can name anybody as the holder of any title in their villages, but they dare not install anybody as Mayegun of the entire Yoruba race”.
The Alaafin’s statement will cause a huge setback on the concerted efforts of the Ooni of Ife and other Yoruba monarchs who constantly seek for peace and unity among the Yoruba rulers.
