According to BBC News, a Ukrain passenger plane carrying more than 170 passengers and crew members crashed in Iran, after taking off from the Imam Khomeini International Airport, in Iran’s capital Tehran.
There were no survivors on the flight that was carrying 167 passengers and 9 crew members.
According to Vadym Prystaiko, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, the victims included 82 Iranians, 63 Canadian, 11 from Ukraine, 10 Swedes, 4 from Afghanistan, and 3 from Germany and another 3 from Britain.
The plane, a Boeing-777 crashed without leaving any survivors. According to Iran Red Crescent, the chances of anyone surviving the crash was zero.
“The Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 to Ukraine’s capital Kyiv crashed just after taking off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini airport in Tehran at 06:12 local time (02:42 GMT),” BBC reports.
According to the Ukraine embassy in Tehran, the cause of the accident was reported to be due to an engine failure.
Vadym Prystaiko, Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs has already shared a condolence message, and also acknowledging their awareness of the incident.
“We are currently aware of the following information on the countries of origin of those killed in the crash #PS752 : Iran – 82; Canada – 63; Ukraine – 2 + 9 (crew); Sweden – 10; Afghanistan – 4; Germany – 3; United Kingdom – 3. We express our condolences. The Ukrainian authorities continue to investigate.” Vadym Prystaiko tweeted.
