University of Ibadan Mourns 300-Level MBBS Student, Ifeluwà Wisdom Akinmade

The University of Ibadan community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Ifeluwà Wisdom Akinmade, a 300-level MBBS student.

According to statements circulating within the university community, Akinmade was reportedly suspected to have taken a harmful substance around Saturday midnight. He was first rushed to Jaja Clinic and later transferred to the University College Hospital (UCH) for urgent medical attention.

Despite medical efforts to stabilize him, he reportedly remained in a coma for several hours before he later passed away.

The news was formally communicated by the Hall Warden of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall. In addition, the University of Ibadan Medical Students’ Association (UIMSA) released an official condolence message expressing deep sorrow over his passing.

In its statement, UIMSA described the loss as painful and extended condolences to his family, friends, classmates, and the wider university community.

Members of the university community have since been urged to seek help when overwhelmed and to share their struggles with trusted friends, seniors, or available support systems.

The tragic incident has deeply shaken not just his hall of residence but the entire University of Ibadan community.
