The Presidency has dismissed circulating claims that a staff member of the Aso Rock kitchen was arrested for allegedly attempting to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement posted publicly, the Special Adviser on Information to President Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, described the report as false and urged Nigerians to disregard the viral video fueling the allegation.
Onanuga stated:
“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.”
The clarification comes after a video began circulating online alleging that security operatives had detained members of the presidential kitchen staff over an alleged poisoning attempt.
The Presidency has firmly denied the claims, emphasizing that no such incident occurred and warning against the spread of misinformation.
The statement seeks to quell growing speculation on social media and reassure the public that there has been no breach involving the President’s kitchen staff.
Authorities have not indicated whether steps will be taken to trace the origin of the viral video.
The situation highlights ongoing concerns about misinformation spreading rapidly through digital platforms.
