Onigbope of Igbope Commends Makinde for Signing 2026 Budget into Law

Onigbope of Igbope Applauds Governor Makinde’s Approval of 2026 Budget

Oba Dr. Mosess Olawale Oyetola Fabiyi (IV) Ilufemiloye I, the esteemed Onigbope of Igbope Land, has expressed strong approval of Governor Seyi Makinde’s recent enactment of the N892 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill. The traditional leader highlighted the significance of this budget as a catalyst for sustainable development within Oyo State.

Call for Unified Support to Ensure Effective Budget Execution

Oba Oyetola urged all political stakeholders, civil servants, and community members to collaborate closely with the state government to guarantee the budget’s successful implementation. He emphasized that collective responsibility is crucial to translating the budget’s objectives into tangible benefits for the populace.

“It is imperative that we unite behind Governor Makinde’s vision to actualize this budget, which aims to stimulate economic progress and enhance the welfare of Oyo State residents,” the monarch stated.

Strategic Focus Areas of the 2026 Budget

Dubbed the “Budget of Economic Expansion,” the 2026 fiscal plan prioritizes critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment initiatives. Notably, the budget allocates N210.02 billion towards infrastructural projects, N155.21 billion for educational development, and N70.81 billion dedicated to healthcare services.

Governance and Fiscal Prudence Underpinning the Budget

The commendation from the Onigbope coincides with Governor Makinde’s administration’s ongoing commitment to pragmatic budgeting and enhanced fiscal discipline. The governor has also indicated readiness to introduce a supplementary budget should there be an increase in revenue or surplus funds, reflecting adaptive financial management.

Governor Makinde remarked, “Our approach is to innovate and diversify our economy, reducing reliance on federal allocations. This strategy is essential for achieving long-term economic resilience and growth.” The budget’s emphasis on production over consumption underscores this vision.

Looking Ahead: Economic Growth and Community Impact

With this budget, Oyo State is poised to accelerate infrastructural development, improve educational outcomes, and strengthen healthcare delivery systems. These investments are expected to create jobs, empower local entrepreneurs, and uplift the standard of living across the state.

Recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics indicates that states focusing on internally generated revenue and infrastructure investments have seen up to a 15% increase in economic growth year-on-year, a trend Oyo State aims to emulate through this budget.
