Oyo State Forms Committee to Address Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road Concerns
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has inaugurated a dedicated committee tasked with resolving the challenges related to the corridor and setback issues on the ongoing Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project. This initiative aims to thoroughly investigate the concerns raised by affected residents and stakeholders, ensuring a balanced and sustainable resolution.
Inclusive Representation for Effective Dialogue
The committee is composed of a diverse group of stakeholders, including representatives from communities impacted by the project, Ibadan Mogajis from the six local government areas involved, local government chairpersons, and key state officials. Notably, Honorable Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, Chairman of the Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, and Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi, Executive Adviser on New Towns and Cities Development Authority, are leading the efforts to mediate and find common ground.
Commitment to Transparent and Fair Solutions
Following the committee’s first meeting at the New Towns and Cities Development Authority Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, Mrs. Adebiyi emphasized the group’s dedication to addressing the issues objectively. She highlighted the importance of aligning government policies with the needs of the residents to ensure equitable outcomes for all parties involved.
“Our goal is to guarantee that government policies are clearly communicated and implemented so that every stakeholder, especially those directly affected, can benefit and feel satisfied with the process,” Mrs. Adebiyi stated.
Governor Makinde’s Engagement with Affected Communities
Just a day prior to the committee’s formation, Governor Makinde personally met with residents impacted by the 110-kilometer Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Circular Road project. During this engagement, he assured them of the government’s commitment to incorporating their feedback into the project’s development plans.
Ensuring Compliance and Justice
Mrs. Adebiyi further explained that the committee’s mandate includes strict adherence to setback regulations and corridor guidelines established for the project. She reassured the public that fairness and justice would be the cornerstone of all decisions made.
Voices from the Local Governments and Community Leaders
Honorable Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, representing the affected local governments, expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his proactive approach in engaging property owners. He also commended the resilience of the people throughout the project’s progression.
“We are committed to resolving all concerns related to setbacks and corridor development. The committee will collaborate closely with the New Towns and Cities Development Authority, Ibadan Mogajis, and community representatives to ensure comprehensive solutions,” Sanda affirmed.
Engr. Abduljelil Adanla, speaking on behalf of the Mogajis, pledged to work hand-in-hand with community leaders to maintain open communication and support for affected residents. He urged patience and continued cooperation with the government’s efforts.
Additional Committee Members and Their Roles
The committee also includes representatives from the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development and the Ministry of Works and Transport, among others, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to tackling the project’s challenges.
Looking Ahead
As the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project progresses, this committee’s work is pivotal in balancing infrastructural development with community welfare. With over 60% of the road construction completed as of late 2025, the government’s focus on stakeholder engagement sets a positive precedent for future urban development initiatives in Oyo State.
