BEYOND Fitness Champions Breast Cancer Awareness with Annual Pink Walk

On Friday, 17 October 2025, BEYOND Fitness, a leading boutique wellness brand across Africa, brought together its vibrant community, the #BeyondTribe, for the much-anticipated BEYOND Pink Walk. This year’s 5KM walk along the scenic Lagos Coastal Road was held in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, fostering solidarity and education around this critical health issue.

Embracing the Theme: “Strength Inside and Out”

The event radiated energy and purpose, with participants engaging in a meaningful morning of physical activity and wellness education. The walk symbolized support for women battling breast cancer, while an expert-led wellness session provided valuable insights into breast health and prevention strategies.

Health Screenings and Expert Guidance

Health partner Diamed Centre offered complimentary screenings, including blood sugar and blood pressure checks, alongside an informative talk focused on breast cancer awareness and preventive care. This initiative aligns with recent data from the World Health Organization, which highlights early detection as a key factor in improving breast cancer survival rates globally.

Insightful Dialogue on Women’s Health

A standout moment was the engaging discussion between BEYOND’s Founder, Simisola Williams, and Dr. Itunu Johnson-Sogbetun, a Consultant Women’s Health Specialist and founder of DrShoCares, a women’s health practice operating in both the UK and Lagos. Dr. Itunu emphasized the importance of early detection and self-awareness, particularly for Black women who face unique breast health challenges.

“Detecting breast cancer early significantly increases survival chances. Caring for your health is a profound form of self-love. Understand your body, trust your instincts, and seek medical advice if something feels unusual. Awareness must translate into proactive steps,” Dr. Itunu advised.

Dr. Itunu also dispelled common misconceptions about mammograms, underscoring the role of balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and stress management in maintaining hormonal health. These lifestyle factors are increasingly recognized by health experts as vital components in cancer prevention.

Community Support and Contributions

BEYOND Fitness extended gratitude to its partners, including Swan Water, Melonypine, Frootaz, and Roselle Brew, who provided hydration and refreshments to participants, enhancing the event’s supportive atmosphere.

Funds raised through sales of exclusive BEYOND Pink Walk apparel and individual donations were directed to Sebeccly Cancer Support, a nonprofit organization dedicated to cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and survivor support. This collaboration highlights the growing trend of wellness brands actively contributing to social causes.

“The BEYOND Pink Walk exemplifies how wellness transcends physical fitness. It’s about fostering community, shared purpose, and collective resilience,” remarked Simisola Williams, Founder and Managing Director of BEYOND Fitness.

Closing Reflections and Future Vision

The event concluded with moments of reflection, appreciation, and communal bonding, reinforcing BEYOND Fitness’s commitment to transforming wellness culture across Africa through movement, mindfulness, and impactful initiatives.
