OYOGist.com has learned that barely up to a month after the governor of Rivers state, Ezenwo Wike was heavily criticized in the media for purchasing 41 brand new range rover SUVs for the Judges in Rives state, he has made another purchase of 15 state of the art Land Cruiser Prado SUVs for the house of reps members.
The presentation of the 15 Land Cruiser Prado VX and TXL cars to members of the National Assembly was done today at a brief ceremony at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Governor Wike was represented in the occasion, by the State Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor. He said the gesture was to aide the lawmakers have a better means of transportation to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.
He also told them to keep faith with the party come 2023 when the party would take back what they have lost from the center.
The model of the cars, Land Cruiser Prado VX and TXL are all the latest models and goes for about N24million each.
Recall there was a heavy backlash when Gov Wike presented the range rover SUVs to the judges earlier.
There were insinuations from different quarters that he had used the money the FG had returned to the state, about N78Billion, to make the purchase.
The state government, however, had come out to debunk the story adding that the state is yet to receive the money from the FG.
Speaking on behalf of the reps members, Hon. Kingsley Chinda representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency promised the governor the continued support of the members.
The member representing Akuku-Toru/Asari-Toru Federal Constituency, Hon. Boma Goodheadprayed for continued success in the governor’s endeavors for always integrating the reps members in his plan for Rivers state.
Also speaking, the member representing Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Awaji-Inombek Abiante said they will surely reciprocate the good gestures of the gov by ensuring they give a very excellent representation in the house of reps.
