In a bid to maintain an all-round continuous learning for private and public school students during the COVID-19 pandemic, LASG has launched a well-packaged educational television programme tagged: “The Total Education Show”.
The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, stated that the programme is an intervention concept by the Ministry and it is aimed at enriching the students’ knowledge with educational programmes, in addition to the existing curriculum of daily radio, television and online classes.
Adefisayo emphasised that education is not balanced if it is only focused on cognitive development rather than behavioural, entrepreneurial, analytical, experimental and social aspects for the development of the learner.
The Commissioner stated that the focus area of the programme will include Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STREAM), Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) and Child Protection Advocacy against Child Abuse.
Adefisayo stressed that the show will enlighten the children and provide an opportunity to learn other skills for future purposes. “The Show will be aired on Television Continental (TVC) Entertainment and GOTV Channel 27, every Monday and Thursday at 4:30 pm on both days. The viewers can also send their suggestions through SMS/Whatsapp to the telephone number: 08126601889”, she disclosed.
“The children can also watch previous episodes of the educational programme on LASG YouTube Page by searching for “The Total Education Show” or follow comments about the programme on the social media handle of the Ministry @lasgeducation”, she added.
The Commissioner urged parents to ensure that their children have access to these programmes created to improve their knowledge during their stay at home, declaring that the children will be back to school as soon as the Coronavirus pandemic is effectively contained.
