The Director-General of the Tinubu Support Organisation (TSO) has expressed confidence that northern Nigeria will throw its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 rather than support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
According to the TSO DG, President Tinubu has demonstrated commitment to national development through key economic reforms, infrastructure projects, and security interventions that have earned him increasing support across the northern region. He argued that many northerners now believe the President deserves a second term to consolidate on the progress made since taking office.
The TSO chief dismissed claims that the North would rally behind Atiku in the next presidential election, insisting that such assumptions do not reflect the political reality on the ground. He maintained that the region is more interested in continuity and effective governance than a return to previous political arrangements.
His remarks come as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum, with various parties and political groups positioning themselves for what is expected to be a keenly contested race. Discussions around zoning, regional support, and coalition-building have intensified in recent months as major political figures seek to strengthen their chances.
The statement adds to the growing debate over where northern political support will ultimately lie as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
