Former Borno State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ali Modu Sheriff has made some revelations regarding the forth coming 2027 general elections.
Ali stated during a television appearance that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will not receive northern backing for the 2027 presidential election.
Sheriff argued that under Nigeria’s unwritten regional power-sharing arrangement, the presidency must remain in the South until 2031, following former President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year term.
He noted that while Atiku (contesting under the ADC) is fully qualified, he must wait his turn until 2031.
Additionally, Sheriff expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects and dismissed the chances of Peter Obi (running under the NDC), asserting that northern voters would not support Obi due to past political history and current local sentiments in key states like Kano.
