In a major victory against the wave of insecurity plaguing Nigeria’s north-central border communities, a coordinated military and local intelligence operation has successfully liberated at least 22 kidnap victims, many of whom had been held in agonizing captivity for months.
The rescue took place during a high-intensity weekend raid across the dense forest corridors connecting Kogi and Kwara states. The operation was spearheaded by the Kogi State Joint Security Forces—a collaborative task force uniting the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, local hunters, and community vigilante groups.
According to security officials, the sheer velocity and firepower of the offensive heavily pressured the criminal syndicates, forcing them to abandon their strongholds and leave dozens of captives behind as they fled deep into the bush.
