The Speaker of the Ninth Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, has formally declared his intention to contest in the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement follows what he described as a strong and unified call from leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Ibarapaland, who urged him to enter the race.
Ogundoyin stated that his decision was not driven by personal ambition but by a broader responsibility to respond to the collective aspirations of the people.
“This is a defining step. The journey has begun,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to focused, inclusive, and result-driven leadership.
He also revealed that consultations are ongoing, including meetings with stakeholders in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government, where he noted that the message of support remains consistent and aligned.
The declaration positions Ogundoyin as one of the early contenders in what is expected to be a competitive race ahead of the 2027 elections in Oyo State.
