US Reportedly Considering Seizing Iran’s Kharg Island Oil Terminal

The United States is reportedly discussing a dramatic escalation in its confrontation with Iran – the possible seizure of Kharg Island, the offshore terminal responsible for about 90% of Iran’s oil exports.

Kharg Island, located in the Persian Gulf, is widely considered the single most important node in Iran’s energy infrastructure. Nearly all of the country’s crude oil exports pass through the terminal before heading to global markets.

If such a move were carried out, it would effectively place Iran’s economic lifeline under direct American military control.

According to emerging reports circulating in security circles, the proposal could be part of a broader strategic plan aimed at crippling Iran’s ability to finance its military operations and regional proxy networks.

Analysts say the implications would go far beyond economic pressure.

A seizure of Kharg Island could also be followed by operations targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities and increased control over the Strait of Hormuz, the critical maritime chokepoint through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply travels.

Any attempt to control Kharg Island would represent one of the most aggressive strategic moves in the region in decades and could dramatically reshape the balance of power across the Persian Gulf.

Military experts warn that such a move could trigger major retaliation from Iran and potentially widen the conflict across the Middle East.

As tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel continue to escalate, the situation around the Persian Gulf is being closely monitored by governments and energy markets worldwide.

For now, there has been no official confirmation from Washington regarding any plan to seize the island.

However, the mere discussion of such a scenario highlights how rapidly the conflict risks expanding.
