Tragic Account of a Woman’s Murder in Rivers State
Chimereucheya Abigail Enyinnaya, a Nigerian woman, has shared a heartbreaking testimony about the brutal killing of her sister by her husband, Abuchi.
Details of the Incident
According to reports from the Rivers State Police Command, Abuchi was apprehended for allegedly murdering his wife in Amaji village, located within the Umuoyoro Community of Omuma Local Government Area. The tragic event unfolded on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the couple’s farm.
During a heated dispute, Abuchi reportedly attacked his wife, who was harvesting cassava at the time, using a kitchen knife to fatally wound her. The victim was a mother of two and had been married to Abuchi since 2020.
A Sister’s Heartfelt Plea
On Monday, February 24, Chimereucheya took to Facebook to express her anguish over the savage killing. She described Abuchi as a “beast” and recounted how he assaulted her sister before decapitating her with a kitchen knife.
Following the murder, Abuchi returned home and confessed to killing his wife. When his brother attempted to intervene, Abuchi allegedly shot him and fled the scene.
“My sister was mercilessly murdered by her husband. This is not a fictional story or a dramatization; it is my painful reality,” Chimereucheya wrote. “They married in December 2020. Abuchi, from Amaji village in Umuoyoro Community, Rivers State, is responsible for this heinous act.”
Police Investigation and Arrest
On the day of the incident, Abuchi had left his workshop around noon, informing his employer that he was going to visit his wife and children. Instead, he proceeded directly to the farm where the fatal attack occurred.
After the murder, Abuchi reportedly announced his crime and shot his brother when he tried to stop him. He then went into hiding but was captured by the police on Friday, February 20.
The case is currently under investigation by the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), with Abuchi held in custody awaiting trial. Authorities have stated that there is no justification for his actions.
Impact and Call for Justice
Chimereucheya’s emotional message highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence, especially on innocent children left behind. She implores the justice system to hold Abuchi accountable, emphasizing that such brutality must not go unpunished.
Her plea resonates with ongoing concerns about gender-based violence in Nigeria, where recent statistics indicate that approximately 30% of women have experienced some form of domestic abuse. This tragic case underscores the urgent need for stronger protective measures and awareness campaigns.
“My sister died silently, unable to tell the world the horrors she endured. This man does not deserve to live. I pray justice is served for her and our family,” Chimereucheya concluded.
