Toshiba Ihediri, a resident of Umuahia, Nigeria, has publicly expressed profound gratitude to God after narrowly avoiding a catastrophic road accident that resulted in the deaths of 15 traders. The victims were returning from a traditional wedding ceremony held in Enugu State on Sunday, February 15, 2026.

Ihediri, who is a neighbor to the groom, recounted how he was initially set to travel with the group but felt compelled to disembark from the bus before the journey commenced. After waiting for approximately five hours for the bus to fill up, heeding what he described as a divine message, he chose not to board the vehicle.

Listening to a Higher Calling

In his heartfelt testimony, Ihediri shared that he heard a clear instruction from God to quietly exit the coaster bus. Trusting this spiritual prompting, he decided against continuing the trip to Enugu. His decision ultimately spared him from the fatal crash that occurred shortly after departure.

“God, I thank You for saving me yesterday. You alone orchestrated my safety,” Ihediri wrote. “After sitting in the bus from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., waiting for others to board, I changed my mind and chose not to travel. Twelve people lost their lives in the accident involving the bus I was supposed to take, and several others remain unconscious.”

The devastating crash has left the community in mourning, with many families grieving the loss of loved ones who were traders returning from the wedding. Ihediri reflected on the potential heartbreak his own family would have faced had he been involved, mentioning his elderly mother, wife, children, siblings, and close friends.
