Security operatives have arrested the suspected kidnappers of Dr. Abu Tunde, a house officer who was abducted in Auchi, following a dramatic twist in which the suspects reportedly returned to his hospital seeking treatment for their child.

Dr. Tunde and his brother were kidnapped several months ago, with the abductors initially demanding a ransom of ₦100 million for their release. The case drew national attention after family members and friends appealed to the public for help to raise the funds, an appeal that quickly went viral across social media.

The family of Dr Anu sought public support to raise funds for their release.

Tragically, before the ransom could be fully paid, the kidnappers allegedly grew impatient and killed Dr. Tunde’s brother. The development shocked many Nigerians and deepened calls for urgent action against kidnapping and violent crime.

Despite the devastating loss, ₦70 million was eventually paid, leading to Dr. Tunde’s release. He was freed physically but left traumatised by the murder of his brother.

After some months away, Dr. Tunde resumed his medical duties, returning to work at the hospital and continuing to save lives. In a cruel twist of fate, two men later brought a critically ill child to the same hospital for urgent medical attention. The child was reportedly the offspring of one of the men.

Upon seeing them, Dr. Tunde immediately recognised the men as the same individuals who kidnapped him and his brother, and who were responsible for his brother’s death. Acting discreetly, he alerted security operatives.

The suspects were subsequently arrested, with a video circulating online showing them handcuffed together following their apprehension.

The arrest has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians calling on authorities to ensure that justice is fully served for Dr. Tunde and his family. Citizens have also urged the government to provide adequate support and protection for victims of violent crime and medical professionals who continue to work under challenging conditions.

As investigations continue, condolences have poured in for the slain brother, with many offering prayers for the repose of his soul and strength for the bereaved family.
