In the wake of escalating violence between the Bachama and Tsobo communities within Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State, law enforcement authorities have detained two individuals suspected of involvement in the deaths of three women.

Details Surrounding the Arrests

Based on reliable intelligence, the Adamawa State Police Command apprehended the suspects in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, 2026, around 3:30 a.m., in the Tigno district of Lamurde LGA. The detainees, William Joshua (30) and Ezekiel Luka (23), are both Bachama natives from the Tigno community.

Incident Summary and Victim Information

Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje disclosed on Sunday, January 4, that the arrests are connected to the fatal shooting of three Tsobo women amid the recent communal clashes. The victims-Mrs. Dozimn Lala, Mrs. Nirtawi Nwere, and Mrs. Walami Wilson-were reportedly assisting a Tsobo farmer, Mr. Gospel, on his farmland when the attack took place.

Furthermore, a fourth woman, Mrs. Grace Wilson, sustained severe injuries during the same incident and is currently receiving medical care.

Confiscated Items and Investigation Progress

Authorities recovered an AK-47 magazine loaded with 29 live rounds, a machete, and ₦90,000 in cash from the suspects. The police spokesperson confirmed that both men are cooperating fully with investigators, and a comprehensive probe is ongoing at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Police Assurance and Regional Security Context

The Adamawa State Police Command has pledged to restore tranquility in the affected communities and ensure that those responsible for the violence face justice. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to address the 15% rise in communal conflicts reported in the region over the past year, as highlighted in recent security assessments.
