Nigeria’s leading carrier, Air Peace, has launched a historic non-stop flight service to Antigua and Barbuda, marking a major milestone in aviation and strengthening air connectivity between Nigeria and the Caribbean.

The new route, which commenced operations in late December 2025, connects Lagos and Accra directly to the Caribbean nation, making it the first-ever service of its kind operated by a West African airline.

The development eliminates the need for passengers to endure long layovers in Europe or North America, significantly reducing travel time and improving convenience for tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange. Aviation observers say the route is expected to boost trade, tourism, and bilateral investment opportunities between both regions, while also enhancing Air Peace’s profile as a growing international carrier.

Antigua and Barbuda tourism officials have welcomed the launch, describing it as a strategic opportunity to deepen ties with Africa and attract new visitor traffic from emerging markets. The service also reflects Air Peace’s expanding long-haul network and ongoing commitment to connecting Africa with global travel destinations.

Industry stakeholders say the launch signals a new chapter in South-South aviation partnerships, opening the door for broader economic collaboration and future regional routes.

OYOGist will continue to monitor operational updates and passenger response to the new service.
