The Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, has publicly conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the demise of Hon. Abdul-Rasak Ademola Abdullahi, affectionately known as Omo Sheu, a respected member of the 9th Assembly.
Remembering a Dedicated Public Servant
Hon. Abdullahi served as the representative for Ibadan South East State Constituency I from 2019 until 2023. His passing on Sunday evening was attributed to complications from a chronic kidney ailment, which he battled for an extended period.
In a statement issued on Monday, Speaker Ogundoyin highlighted Omo Sheu’s unwavering commitment to his constituents and his influential role within the legislative body. He described him as a compassionate leader, a steadfast party loyalist, and an energetic voice in the Assembly who consistently prioritized the welfare of his community.
A Legacy of Grassroots Advocacy and Humility
“The news of Hon. Abdul-Rasak Ademola Abdullahi’s passing struck me with profound grief. He was not only a brother and colleague but also a genuine grassroots politician who maintained close ties with his electorate, tirelessly championing their interests,” the Speaker remarked.
He further emphasized that Omo Sheu’s humility, dedication to public service, and the camaraderie he fostered among his peers left an indelible mark on the Assembly and the people he served.
Extending Sympathy to Family and Community
Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, the residents of Ibadan South East Local Government Area, and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
He prayed for divine mercy on the departed soul and strength for the family to endure this significant loss, invoking Allah’s forgiveness and the highest paradise, Aljanah Firdaus, for Hon. Abdullahi.
“We have lost a remarkable individual whose contributions to our society will be remembered with great respect and affection,” the Speaker concluded.
