On Saturday night near Dundalk, a devastating two-vehicle collision resulted in the deaths of five young individuals. The crash took place shortly after 9 pm on the Ardee Road at Gibstown, prompting a swift response from emergency services and law enforcement.
Identities of the Victims and Injured
The victims have been identified as Chloe McGee, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21, both from Carrickmacross, County Monaghan; Alan McCluskey, 23, from Drumconrath, County Meath; Dylan Commins, 23, from Ardee, County Louth; and Chloe Hipson, 21, originally from Lanarkshire, Scotland. All were passengers in a Volkswagen Golf involved in the collision with a Toyota Land Cruiser.
In addition to the fatalities, three other individuals-two men and one woman-suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.

Superintendent Charlie Armstrong confirmed that Gardaí are conducting a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the collision. He reported that the crash involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Land Cruiser, with five young adults-three men and two women in their early twenties-pronounced dead at the scene.
One male passenger from the Volkswagen Golf was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious injuries that are not life-threatening. The two occupants of the Toyota Land Cruiser, a man and a woman, were also hospitalized with injuries deemed non-critical.

Superintendent Armstrong appealed to the public to respect the privacy of the grieving families during this difficult time. He acknowledged the deep sorrow felt across the communities of Carrickmacross, Drumconrath, and Scotland, where the victims hailed from.
He also commended the emergency personnel for their professionalism and empathy while managing the challenging scene amid adverse weather conditions, ensuring dignified treatment of the deceased.
