NUJ Election: I Will Not Deprive Anyone His Or Her Rights - Raji

Raji Adebayo Pledges Equal Rights and Revitalization for NUJ Oyo State Council

Comrade Raji Adebayo, a prominent contender for the Chairmanship of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State Council, has assured that his leadership will guarantee equal rights and opportunities for all union members. Speaking during a campaign visit to the state’s Ministry of Information, Raji emphasized his commitment to fairness and inclusivity within the council.

Commitment to Member Welfare and Healthcare Improvements

Highlighting his plans to rejuvenate the union’s healthcare facilities, Raji revealed intentions to restore the currently inactive health center at the NUJ Secretariat. “The welfare of our members is paramount,” he stated, “and we are already in talks with several NGOs to support this initiative.” This move aims to provide accessible medical services to journalists, enhancing their well-being and productivity.

Open-Door Leadership and Transparency

Raji also promised to implement an open-door policy, fostering transparency and accountability throughout his tenure. He assured members that no individual would be denied their rights under his administration. “Transparency and accountability will be the pillars of my leadership,” he affirmed, adding plans to collaborate with partners to optimize the use of unused land within the NUJ Secretariat premises.

Focus on Professional Development and Unity

Recognizing the importance of continuous learning, Raji committed to establishing training and retraining programs for journalists, especially those without formal journalism education. “We will partner with educational institutions to enhance the skills of our members,” he explained. He also expressed a strong desire to build on the existing unity within the NUJ, pledging to unite all contestants post-election for the collective progress of the council.

Endorsement and Voting Advice from Union Leaders

Comrade Rotimi Babalola, former NUJ Secretary and current Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Information, welcomed Raji’s campaign team warmly. He encouraged members to vote conscientiously, emphasizing the importance of choosing leaders who genuinely prioritize their interests. “This election is significant, and I urge everyone to support candidates who have their welfare at heart,” Babalola advised.
