Empowering Female Creatives: Terra Academy for the Arts Wraps Up Women Entrepreneurs Development Programme
Terra Academy for the Arts (TAFTA) recently concluded its impactful Women Entrepreneurs Development Programme (WEDP), a comprehensive three-day hybrid bootcamp aimed at equipping female entrepreneurs with essential skills, strategic tools, and the confidence needed to expand and professionalize their creative ventures. The event combined two days of virtual sessions with an in-person gathering at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos, uniting TAFTA-trained women entrepreneurs from across Nigeria for an intensive learning and networking experience focused on sustainable business growth and operational excellence.
From Informal Hustle to Structured Enterprise: Practical Business Insights
Throughout the programme, expert facilitators delivered actionable guidance on transforming informal side hustles into well-organized businesses. Topics covered included effective financial management, the importance of mentorship and accountability partnerships, identifying and targeting ideal customer segments, and establishing credibility in competitive markets. Participants were also trained to spot unmet market needs and develop innovative solutions tailored to real-world challenges.
A standout feature was the elevator pitch workshop, where attendees honed their ability to succinctly and persuasively present their business ideas-an indispensable skill for attracting clients, investors, and collaborators in today’s fast-paced creative economy.
The in-person segment showcased a vibrant panel discussion featuring prominent figures such as Bayo Babatunde, Managing Director of Vistaris Advisory Hub Ltd; Faith Desmond, Business Growth Consultant at LeanX Support; Funto Ibuoye, CEO of Five28; and Uloma Nkemakolam, CEO of Pure Delight Edibles. Moderated by Chinedu Isagbah, TAFTA’s Programs Manager, the conversation delved into harmonizing artistic innovation with structured business planning and long-term sustainability.
Inspiration from Terra Kulture’s Founder Bolanle Austen-Peters
The event was further elevated by a keynote address from Bolanle Austen-Peters, Founder of Terra Kulture, who motivated participants to cultivate resilience, consistency, and creativity as pillars for thriving in the evolving creative sector.
“Success in entrepreneurship is no accident; it is forged through bravery, persistence, and meaningful connections. To create a lasting impact, you must embrace risk-taking, maintain unwavering dedication, and continuously innovate. Own your narrative, believe in your vision, and build a supportive community-because behind every flourishing business are people who champion its growth,” Bolanle Austen-Peters emphasized during her inspiring speech.
TAFTA’s Vision: Cultivating Purpose-Driven Women Entrepreneurs
Opening the programme, Joseph Umoibom, TAFTA Academy Lead, remarked:
“The Women Entrepreneurs Development Programme is more than a training event; it is a convergence of courageous, visionary women ready to transform their talents into impactful enterprises that enrich communities and society at large. The potential for greatness already exists within each of us; initiatives like this provide the clarity and courage to unlock it.”
As the bootcamp concluded, participants expressed renewed enthusiasm to implement the strategies learned, formalize their business operations, and foster networks of accountability and support. Beyond technical skills, WEDP cultivated a vibrant community where female entrepreneurs could exchange experiences, gain fresh perspectives, and explore new avenues for growth.
