NAHCON Cuts 2026 Hajj Fare, Sets Early Payment Deadline

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a reduction in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage fees for Nigerian applicants. Prospective pilgrims are encouraged to make their payments promptly to comply with Saudi Arabia’s payment deadlines.

Updated Hajj Pricing Structure by Region

  • Maiduguri/Yola Region: ₦7,579,020.96 (previously ₦8,118,033.67)
  • Northern Region: ₦7,696,769.76 (previously ₦8,244,813.67)
  • Southern Region: ₦7,991,141.76 (previously ₦8,561,013.67)

Fatima Usara, NAHCON’s spokesperson, explained that the new fees were calculated using an exchange rate of ₦1,443 to the US dollar. This adjustment results in savings of approximately ₦539,013 for Maiduguri/Yola pilgrims, ₦548,044 for those from the Northern region, and ₦569,872 for Southern region pilgrims.

Deadline for Payment Submission: December 5

NAHCON has set a firm deadline of December 5 for all pilgrims to finalize their payments. This timeline ensures that funds are processed and credited to NAHCON’s IBAN account well before Saudi Arabia’s cutoff date of December 21 for settling essential service contracts. Given that international bank transfers can take up to two weeks to clear, early remittance is crucial to avoid disqualification.

Slot Allocation Now Based on Early Payment

In a recent update, NAHCON revealed that the distribution of pilgrimage slots to states will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. States that complete their payments earlier will secure slots for their registered pilgrims ahead of others. Idris Almakura, chairman of the Forum of States, has called on state officials to expedite their activities in Saudi Arabia and return swiftly to mobilize and register pilgrims without delay.
