Oyogist has learned that the gunmen that abducted 29 Zamfara businessmen returning from a wedding in Sokoto state to their state on Saturday, June 11, are demanding a ransom of N145 million to effect their release.
Seven of the victims who are mobile phone accessories dealers in Bebeji plaza in Guasau, the state capital, were rescued by vigilante members of the state 24 hours after their abduction.
Union leaders in the market say the abductors have reached out to the families of the 29 traders in their captivity on Monday, June 13, demanding N5 million ransom for their release. They say the abductors are demanding that the ransom be paid as a lump sum and not individually.
