Sadio Mané’s level of respect for Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah has been described as top notch after the Senegalese requested the English giants to not celebrate his AFCON success because of Salah’s presence at the club.
The AFCON winner played his first game at Anfield since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, and there were plans to organise a congratulatory welcome for the Senegalese hero.
However, Sadio Mané made a special request to the club to boycott a celebratory ceremony for him out of respect for Salah.
Sadio Mané led Senegal to victory against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Although Mane missed a penalty in regulation time, he scored the winning spot kick to hand the Teranga Lions their first-ever AFCON title.
Mané was adjudged player of the tournament after netting three goals and providing two assists at the tournament in Cameroon.
