The Biden-led US has vowed to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 50% come 2030, in a move that prioritizes commitment to climate change, OYOGist.com has gathered.
This announcement was released ahead of a global virtual summit of more than a dozen world leaders that was initiated by President Joe Biden.
Biden said his government aims to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by between 50% to 52% by 2030 based on a 2005 guidelines.
This move is in stark opposition to former White House occupier, President Trump who has always maintained that global warming was a hoax and relaxed oil and gas emissions policies during his tenure, including the US under Trump exiting the Paris Accord.
As part of his campaign promises, President Biden vowed to prioritize climate change and promised to rejoin the Paris Accord upon assumption of office as President.
