Oyogist.com has learned that the special adviser to President Buhari on Digital and new media, Tolu Ogunlesi has revealed that out of the initial 56 Million vaccines meant to be distributed in Nigeria this year, 16 million of the vaccines would be free.
Nigeria is this year expecting total of 16m doses of Covid vaccine from COVAX (free to all benefiting countries) and at least 40m from AVATT (the African Union supply scheme, pre-financed by Afrexim Bank).
(COVAX as far as I know is AZ vaccines while AVATT is a mix).
He shared this in a post on his official Twitter handle while Futher explaining that “Nobody is safe until/unless everyone is safe.”
Recall the Nigerian Government had just received nearly 4 million of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, shipped by the covaxFacility, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO.
“The UN Country Team in Nigeria reiterates its commitment to support the vaccination campaign in Nigeria and help contain the spread of the virus,” said Edward Kallon, UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria.
