Meghan Markle has revealed that, although she and Prince Harry have split from the Royal family, Queen Elizabeth II was nothing but wonderful to her, OYOGist.com has gathered.
During her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan made a lot of shocking revelations, including those tending towards racism in the Briths Royal Household and her contemplating suicide.
However, all that apart, Meghan says she actually had a wonderful relationship with the queen and she saw the queen like her own ‘grandmother.’
“The queen has always been wonderful to me. I’ve loved being in her company,” Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey.
“She’s always been warm, welcoming, and inviting,” she said.
She went ahead to describe her first time meeting the queen and not knowing how to curtesy. This was soon after Meghan and Harry started dating in July 2016.
“I went into it naively. I didn’t grow up knowing much about the royal family. It wasn’t part of the conversation at home, it wasn’t something we followed,” she said.
“I didn’t fully understand what the job was,” she said. “As Americans, what do you know about the royals? It’s what you read in fairy tales. It’s easy to have an image of it that’s so far from reality. That’s what’s been tricky over the last few years. When the perception and the reality are two different things. There’s a complete misalignment.”
