According to report reaching oyogist.com, Cross River State Commissioner for Environment Mr. Mfon Bassey, has reportedly been arrested in Akwa Ibom State.
According to reports, he was arrested on Thursday morning and is currently in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over having connections to shady deals, fake contract documents to obtain funds and other related fraud.
Mr. Mfon had been frequenting the EFCC office in Uyo, on invitation but the Commission decided to detain him yesterday following new developments against him.
He’s alleged to have opened a proxy account with documents suspected to be impersonated, from where he laundered funds for Cross River state Governor, Ben Ayade’s younger brother, Frank Ayade at a commercial bank.
