Oyogist.com has learnt that South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has announced a ban on all alcohol sales across the country, in a bid to avert the numerous number of Covid-19 cases, as the country’s total cases surpasses the 1 million mark.
The country will also step into its third level of Covid-19 restrictions starting from today until Jan. 15, as wearing of face masks has been made compulsory.
“We are at an extremely dangerous point in our fight against the pandemic,” Ramaphosa said. “We have no choice but to observe the highest degree of vigilance.”
So far, South Africa has reported more than 50,000 new cases since December, 24.
