According to report reaching oyogist.com, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State, Rt. Rev. Stephen Adegbite, has reportedly urged all good loving Christians to use the opportunity of the festive season to help the needy and also follow all laid down Covid-19 guidelines.

Mr. Adegbite made this known in Christmas message titled, ‘2020 Christmas Goodwill Message of the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos State, His Lordship, Rt. Rev. (Dr.) Stephen Tunde Victor Adegbite, GPJ’ on Friday.

His stated; “This season reminds us of God’s ultimate desire of reconnecting man to Him, in spite of our sins and misdeeds, hence the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ, for the purpose of man’s redemption and regeneration.

“So, it is salient for us, that as we celebrate this season with food, drinks and all forms of merriment, we need to hold in focus what this season represents to us as individuals and as a people. It should be a time when we recall that God became lower than the angels to be born, lived, suffered and died for us.

“Christmas should be a time for us to remember that we as Christians have an obligation to leave the comforts of our everyday life to help those less fortunate just as Jesus did for all of us. We must indeed be our brother’s and sister’s keeper and ensure that their hope is restored and they can smile again in the midst of the encircling gloom.

“Let me urge us in the words of Ecclesiastes 10:10b, which says ‘Wisdom is profitable to direct’ that we should be guided in how we celebrate this year’s Christmas. The season which we are in calls for sobriety and solemnity.

“Let us avoid crowded places and super spreader events capable of multiplying the COVID-19 cases in the State. Let us ensure we use our nose/face masks and follow all laid down guidelines and safety protocols put in place by the federal, state and local authorities until the pandemic finally dissipates and we are returned to normalcy.

“As Christians, we are to obey authorities and set an example for others to see and emulate. In doing this, there is great reward and God’s blessing is assured,” he stated.
