According to report reaching oyogist.com, the Nigerian Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has reportedly ordered a nationwide tight security and patrol as Nigerians celebrate Christmas and the New years festive season.
The order which was given by the IGP, was directed to all Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of zonal and state commands in the country.
The IGP stated that “The officers are also to ensure that personnel deployed are adequately supervised for utmost professionalism in the discharge of their duties.”
IGP Adamu further urged all Nigerians to take serious precaution as some criminal elements might want to use the festive season as a shield to commit criminal activities in the country.
He also used the medium to implore “that citizens should avoid night travels, speeding, stopping on lonely highways and unnecessary flaunting of personal details or wealth on social media.”
“Citizens are also enjoined to voluntarily adhere to the COVID-19 prevention regulations and protocols to prevent further spread of the virus,” he noted.
