Oyogist.com has learnt that The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Taiwo Adisa has said that the plan of the State government to run the State’s solely owned LAUTECH on multi-Campus arrangement should not be seen as a move that is meant to weaken a particular zone of the State as being rumored in some quarters.
Reacting to agitations in some quarters especially Ogbomoso Zone about an Executive bill which is before the Oyo State House of Assembly which seeks to give LAUTECH multi-Campus status on BOTTOM LINE today anchored by Aanuoluwapo Omorinde.
The Governor’s Spokesperson recalled how a former Governor and a Leader of the APC in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala while campaigning for his governorship bid in 2011 which he lost to late Governor Abiola Ajimobi promised to run LAUTECH with a multi-Campus structure if given the mandate by the people at that time.
According to him, ” the plan of the government is to run LAUTECH conventionally. For instance, the only institution in Oyo State that offers LAW as a course in this State is the University of Ibadan and UI is for everybody. Osun State University offers Law as a Course. Are we saying Oyo State cannot achieve that?”.
I am from Ogbomoso and I can tell you that the agitations is just from a group of people”.
