According to reports reaching Oyogist.com, a Consultant Cardiologist working at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Dr Vincent Uhegbu Maduka, was taken hostage yesterday by armed men in Calabar, Cross Rivers State.
Sources say Maduka was abducted while returning from his church service by gunmen who laid siege at his hometown at Eta Agbo layout and took him to an unknown destination.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Medical Association Chairman in the state, has insisted that there would be an indefinite strike to demand the release of their colleague.
“There is a standing resolution by NMA in the state that doctors would proceed on indefinite strike once a doctor is kidnapped to press for the immediate release of such a victim,” he said.
