According to reports reaching Oyogist.com, major documents concerning the development of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine has been breached in a cyberattack on Europe’s medicines regulators, the firms have said.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) while confirming the attack, said a “full investigation” concerning the attack had been launched.
Meanwhile the Pifzer vaccine partners, BioNTech, said it was informed by the EMA that some documents related to “regulatory submission for” the vaccine had been accessed.
“It is important to note that no BioNTech or Pfizer systems have been breached in connection with this incident and we are unaware that any study participants have been identified through the data being accessed,” added the firm.
The agency is expected to complete its review of the attack on or before 29 December.
