According to report reaching oyogist.com, a party chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) known as Chief Abia Onyike, has reportedly dumped the party for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Before Chief Onyike’s earlier defection to the APC, he was the Director of Media and Publicity for the Governor David Umahi campaign organisation (Devine Mandate). He was also a former Ebonyi state commissioner for Information and State Orientation under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
According to reports, Chief Onyike reportedly left the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressive Congress, APC, due ill treatments from the state governor, Dave Umahi.
Chief Onyike’s return to the party fold of the People’s Democratic Party was contained in a statement which was made available to newsmen on Thursday, in Abakaliki.
“After a critical review of the current political scenario in Ebonyi State, especially since November 19, 2020, when Governor David Umahi defected from the PDP to the APC, I, Abia Onyike, have decided to return to the Peoples Democratic Party.”
It should be noted that the Ebonyi state political space has been plagued with a major political crisis after the incumbent Governor’s defection from the PDP to the ruling APC.
