Apparently disturbed about the defection of the governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi and therefore the senator representing Adamawa North at the Senate, Ishaku Abbo, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed a replacement of six-member committee.
It was also reported that the party said the committee is saddled with the responsibility of wooing governors and lawmakers from the APC into its fold.

Oyogist.com also gathered that the committee, which is headed by a former Senate president, Bukola Saraki, also includes former secretary to the govt of the federation, Anyim Pius Anyim; former governors Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe); and therefore the former legislator within the House of Representatives, Mulikat Akande.
According to the report, the national publicity secretary of the party, Kola Ologbodiyan, had during a tweet via the official Twitter account of the PDP, on the evening of Monday, November 23, announced the composition of the Saraki-led committee.
One of the sources who may be a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, said the PDP was getting to “harvest some governors” and lawmakers from the APC.
The source reportedly stated that the APC was conscious of the plan but that it had quickly asked Umahi to defect from the PDP to send a sign that the previous ruling party was not attractive.
The source reportedly said: “We knew their game. They knew that their members, including governors, members of the National Assembly and lawmakers at the state level, were contemplating joining us. That’s why they rushed to Umahi, asking him to defect quickly.
“They promised him that they might fork over the state (APC) chapter. That was why the party quickly dissolved the Ebonyi State chapter and picked a serving commissioner as acting chairman.”
